Mantrasādhanā: Day 2 – Level 1 – The Magic Hammer of “Yes!”

The Hero’s Call

The Slaying of the Grumpy Cloud

Have you ever felt like your happy thoughts were stuck? Sometimes we feel shy or bored. Sometimes we feel a little bit sad. It feels like a heavy cloud is sitting on our heart.

The ancient songs call this cloud Vritra {वृत्र}. He is the “Coverer.” He is like a giant dragon. He hides all the world’s water inside a dark mountain. When he is around, the rivers cannot flow. The flowers cannot grow.

But you have a hero inside your mind. His name is Indra. Indra is the part of you that is very fast. He is very bright and very strong. He carries a magic hammer made of pure lightning. It is called the Vajra {वज्र}.

The Vajra is your power to say a big and bright “YES!” You use it when things feel like “No.”

Whenever you feel stuck, you can call on your inner Indra. He strikes that grumpy cloud with his light-hammer. Then the wall melts. Suddenly, all that frozen water turns back into splashing rivers. They run through your heart. These rivers are your smiles. They are your “I can do it” feelings. They are your best ideas.

Today, remember that you hold the magic hammer. You have the lightning inside you. You can break any cloud. You can let your happy rivers flow again.
